Today I started up my Alienware 17 R4 after about 1 month of not being used. Laptop has been stored in a dry room in my house. Suddenly I notice that my keyboard is typing the number 4 on its own or moving the cursor on it own to the left presume the problem might be in the 4 key of the keypad then.

It does not occur when I need to type my password to enter windows itself, only when already in windows. Can anyone help?

I 4have the exact same problem with the exact same laptop model.

Justin New Member. I'm having a very strange issue. I have a computer that is typing on its own. Just a ton of random letters and it never ends.

I've tried multiple keyboards, disconnecting from all internet connects and even formatted the HDD and re-installed windows. Even if I do not have a keyboard plugged in, it type on its own. I'm not sure what else to try.My computer is typing i's, o's, and 0's by itself randomly. It is a wired keyboard but it will do it with the keyboard unplugged, with all devices but the monitor unplugged, in safe mode, with text to speech disabled, and during the BIOS screen my computer makes a chirping noise.

Any ideas? I've uploaded a YouTube video to show what's going on. When you remove the keyboard and boot up, does it say "no keyboard detected"? This is assuming your BIOS is set to halt on failures. If it keeps going, then I would suspect a motherboard issue.

What happened to my quote. I first suspected some stuck keyboard keys being held in memory The computer will boot up without the keyboard and the problem will still happen in like explorer bar. I've tried booting up with the keyboard connected and then removing it, and the issue will still happen.

Sometimes when I do that it will get stuck on one key and keep typing it. I ran dxdiagi and it showed no problems. What happened? I have the same problem, bit with "-". Have you found a solution. Apr 6, 25,12, NOTE: If you need to type in a password to even get into Windows to do the following, make sure you attached an external keyboard first, to get past the password.

Then disconnect the external keyboard and try the following Uninstall the keyboard driver. Reboot the computer without reinstalling the driver.

When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own. If this doesn't work, you may wish to try connecting an external keyboard and see if it works fine.Jump to content.
